Artist Bio:
I sew wearable and household goods from a combination of repurposed, vintage, and new textiles. My work emphasizes early- to mid-twentieth century sewing and embroidery styles that were once wildly popular because they enabled people of modest means to design and make beautiful and useful things. One of my particular interests is the embellishment of gingham check fabric. I am committed to promoting fine needlework as an important, but endangered, life skill. Sewing and embroidery are joyful activities for me, and I strive always to honor the creativity, thrift, and technical virtuosity of generations of American needlewomen.
